In November 2022, Housatonic completed a strategic growth investment in Brainfuse. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in New York City, Brainfuse is a leading provider of online tutoring services, career counseling, and veterans’ assistance programs to public libraries, higher education institutions, and K-12 school districts.
In November 2020, Housatonic participated in the acquisition of Cicero Therapies. Based in Rockville, Maryland, Cicero operates a group of clinics that provide speech pathology, occupational therapy (“OT”), and pediatric therapy services to pediatric patients in the eastern and southeastern United States.
In August 2012, Housatonic led the formation of 365 Main through the carve-out acquisition of 16 U.S.-based data centers from Equinix, Inc. (EQIX). The investment was made in partnership with an experienced management team that previously operated a data center business under the same name serving 39 megawatts of power to over 200 customers. 365 Main ensures continuity of mission-critical operations for retail customers through 24/7/365 connectivity and security, high-touch service, and national reach. In 2017, 365 was sold in three clusters to strategic buyers.
In December 2004, Housatonic Partners made an investment in Access Information Management, a San Francisco Bay Area based, full service records and information management firm. Since that date, Access has acquired over twenty-five records management companies and now operates in markets throughout the U.S. The company provides off-site records storage, electronic data protection, secure destruction services and digital imaging solutions. In August 2011, Access was sold to Summit Partners
Accurate Neuromonitoring is a Joint Commission-accredited organization, exclusively providing Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM). Patient safety being the top priority, they employ one of the most highly-trained and educated staffs in the industry. They also provide real-time, remote physician oversight on every surgery that they monitor.
Housatonic, in partnership with CEO Dan Filby, acquired Accusource and PeopleG2 in 2021 – pre-employment screening businesses providing background checks, drug & alcohol testing, and employment verification services. Following the additional acquisition of Proforma Screening Solutions in 2022, the Company rebranded to AccusourceHR. Today, AccusourceHR is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, and provides employment screening services in all 50 states and over 200 countries & territories worldwide.
In January 2014, Housatonic invested with management in Aegis Treatment Centers. The company is one of the leading programs of Opioid Treatment Programs in the country, operating 32 clinics in California, providing Medication Assisted Treatment to over 10,000 patients as they recover from Opioid Use Disorder. In January of 2020, Aegis was sold to Pinnacle Treatment Centers, a strategic acquiror.
In April 1998, Housatonic made an investment in ArchivesOne, Inc., a rapidly growing records management firm based in Middlebury, Connecticut and at that point serving the New York metropolitan area. The company completed over 30 acquisitions and grew to become the third largest company in the records management industry, operating in 23 markets in the U.S. In May 2007, ArchivesOne was sold to Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM).
In October 2020, Housatonic invested in Aymira, which was later rebranded to Abound Health Group. The Company serves the I/DD community through a behavioral health agency and a home-grown software platform. Its behavioral health agency, Abound Health, provides a comprehensive array of supports and services to children and adults with all types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its software platform, OnTarget, offers an EHR platform for I/DD and mental health providers.
Headquartered in Bakersfield, California, Arrival is a profitable facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier, offering a full array of integrated communications services to business customers. Arrival targets business customers in underserved markets throughout Central California, a fast-growing region characterized by a large concentration of small and medium-sized enterprises. Housatonic Partners made its first minority investment in Arrival in 1999. The business was sold to SBA Communications in 2006.
Housatonic participated in the original acquisition to form Asurion in 1995, and the firm invested in the company again in 2000, 2009, and 2012. Now with over 50 million customers, Asurion has grown to be the North American leader in enhanced services for the wireless industry, including handset insurance, data protection, and roadside assistance. In April 2001, July 2007 and March 2016, Housatonic sold a portion of its interest in Asurion to a financial buyer.
In January 2003, Housatonic participated in the acquisition of Bay Communications. Bay was formed to build a communications tower leasing company with a portfolio of tower assets in New England and other select areas of the Northeast. Bay was sold in late December 2009 to SBA Communications.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Beacon Fire & Safety provides sales and service of fire safety equipment, including portable extinguishers, restaurant hood systems, and sprinkler systems. In January 2006, Beacon was sold to Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS).
In September 1996, Housatonic made a minority investment in Boston Common Press (BCP), a publisher of two leading niche consumer magazine titles: Natural Health and Cook’s Illustrated. In July 1998, BCP sold Natural Health to Weider Publishing, Inc. BCP has since launched several successful related ventures, including a cookbook series, the America’s Test Kitchen television show, and Cook’s Country magazine.
In September 2004, Housatonic Partners and entrepreneur Dex Allen formed California Communications, LLC to acquire and operate community newspapers in Southern California. The company publishes The Rancho Santa Fe Review, The Carmel Valley News, The Del Mar Village Voice, and San Diego Premier Properties & Lifestyles. California Communications was merged into Mainstreet Communications in 2009, which was sold in 2013.
In June 1996, Housatonic Partners participated in the formation of Cambridge Communications, LP, a partnership established to acquire a predecessor company. Cambridge operated rural cable television systems in New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. Co-investors in this transaction included Alta Communications and BancBoston Capital. In May 1999, Cambridge Communications was sold to USA Media.
Housatonic invested in the founding of Carillon Assisted Living as the result of a search fund in May 1996. Based in Raleigh, the company has developed and operates assisted living communities for seniors in locations throughout North Carolina. In November 2006, the company completed a successful sale/leaseback transaction with a large REIT.
Housatonic Partners first invested in CaseCentral in September 1999. The company, founded in 1994 and based in San Francisco, delivers on-demand discovery lifecycle management platforms to corporations and law firms. CaseCentral’s software is backed by responsive, litigation-savvy strategic consulting, process, and support services. The company’s client list numbers over 1,100 law firms and corporations and includes 81 of the top 100 U.S. law firms. They are consistently chosen to handle many of the most complex and highly visible litigation projects in the nation. In February 2012, CaseCentral was sold to Guidance Software (NASDAQ: GUID).
In December 1998, Housatonic Partners made an investment in Central Valley Cable, LLC. CVC owns and operates 5 cable television systems in Central California serving over 8500 subscribers. In September 2004, 85% of CVC’s subscribers were sold to Comcast Corporation.
In December 2012, Housatonic made an investment in Circle Graphics, the leading provider of large-format digital printing for the outdoor advertising industry. Based in Longmont, Colorado, the company serves the out-of-home advertising industry as well as the custom photograph printing market. In October 2019, Circle Graphics was sold to a financial buyer.
In July 1997, Housatonic Partners made an investment in Event Rentals, Inc. (ERI), a company established to pursue a regional consolidation in the party supply rental industry. ERI made acquisitions in a number of markets in the western US. In May 2003, ERI was sold to a financial buyer.
In September 2018, Housatonic made a significant growth investment in CitiXsys Holdings. CitiXsys is a leading global software company addressing the needs of mid-market retailers. CitiXsys works with over 1,500 retailers in 85+ countries. Founded in 2005, the company has become a leading mid-market retail software player with 14 offices around the world.
Continental Fire & Safety Services, LLC provides sales and service of fire safety equipment, including portable extinguishers, restaurant hood systems, exit lights, first aid kits, and sprinkler systems. The company operates in New Jersey greater Washington, D.C. markets. In February 2012, Continental was sold to a financial buyer.
Housatonic Partners and management formed Convergent Broadcasting in 2002 to acquire and operate clusters of radio stations in smaller markets. The company currently owns a cluster of FM stations in Corpus Christi, TX. The company was reorganized in September 2010.
In April 2000, Housatonic participated in the purchase of Diamond Rental of Salt Lake City, Utah. Diamond is the largest party and equipment rental business in Utah. In April 2007, Diamond was sold to a financial buyer.
In October 2019, Housatonic invested in D2C Media, Inc. Founded in 2003 and based in Montreal, Quebec, D2C is a leading vertically focused provider of tech-enabled digital marketing solutions to auto dealerships in Canada. In November 2023, D2C Media was sold to Cars.com (NYSE: CARS).
In November 2023, Housatonic completed a strategic growth investment in eCard Systems. Headquartered in Nashville, TN, eCard is an end-to-end provider of outsourced gift card programs and processing services for more than 100,000 restaurants, retail stores, salons & spas, and other small-to-medium sized businesses.
In June 2017, Housatonic participated in the recapitalization of Efficient Forms, LLC. Founded in 2004 and based in Littleton, Colorado, Efficient Forms is a leading provider of HR software and services including applicant tracking, onboarding, work opportunity tax credit (WOTC) processing, and healthcare compliance. Efficient Forms has built a core base of 2,000 customers including quick-serve restaurants, call centers, staffing firms, retailers, and payroll service bureaus. In February 2022, Efficient Forms was sold to Equifax (NYSE: EFX).
In August 2016 and June 2018, Housatonic invested in Calo Programs and the follow on acquisition of InnerChange Holdings. Calo created an umbrella brand, Embark Behavioral Health, to offer clients a national behavioral health company serving teens, young adults and their families with a full continuum of care, including: residential treatment centers, transition programs, outpatient centers and wilderness therapy programs.
In June 2020, Housatonic led the recapitalization of e123, a leading provider of distribution management software for the life and health insurance industry. e123 enables carriers and wholesalers to quickly set-up, enroll, bill, market, and scale distribution of new insurance products.
In October 2020, Housatonic invested in EOI Service Company. Based in Santa Ana, California, EOI Service Company is a national benefits communication and enrollment firm that brings 40 years of experience to the design, communication, and enrollment of core and voluntary benefits and other value-added services.
In June 2002, Housatonic recapitalized Enerdyne Technologies, Inc. (ETI), based in San Diego, California. Founded in 1984, ETI is a leading provider of digital video systems and services to the government, military and intelligence communities. In June 2006, we sold ETI to ViaSat, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT).
In September 2022, EVAL Home Health Solutions, a holding company formed by Housatonic Partners in partnership with CEO Steve Goodman, announced the acquisitions of Auracal Senior Home Care and Schwartz Family Home Care, two leading home health nurse registries in South Florida.
In August 2010, Housatonic invested in Exponential Interactive, a technology-enabled media services company that delivers innovative products and services to meet the demands of today’s digital advertisers. Based in Emeryville, California, the company offers a fully-integrated suite of online advertising solutions and through a variety of offerings, enables online advertisers to reach their target audiences from around the globe to across town. The company’s proprietary ad serving technology serves over 20 billion ad impressions a month and reaches more than 75% of all users on the Internet.
In November 2007, Housatonic invested in Aircraft Fasteners Inc. (AFI), a distributor specializing in aircraft hardware for the aerospace and defense industry. Housatonic backed Scott Tucker as he expanded the business and, in 2014, provided the diligence and arranged to finance the acquisition of Arlington International Aviation Products (AIAP), bringing both businesses under the FDH name. In April 2017, FDH was sold to a financial buyer.
In September 2017, Housatonic invested in FIMC, which helps consumers maintain financial stability and peace of mind by protecting them from many of the most common, yet unexpected, expenses they face everyday. The company’s products are sold and distributed through businesses that partner with FIMC in order to improve their customer engagement and retention, drive incremental revenue, and extend their brands.
In January 1997, Housatonic made a minority investment in First American Records Management Company (FARM), the leading provider of records storage and management services to Silicon Valley firms. In April 1999, FARM was sold to Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM).
In September 2003, Housatonic made an investment in Gold Standard, a leading drug information and healthcare database publisher based in Tampa, FL. In May 2006, Gold Standard was sold to Elsevier, part of Reed Elsevier Group plc (NYSE: RUK and ENL).
In April 2000, Housatonic purchased The Governance Institute (TGI). TGI is the leading provider of information services to the boards of directors, medical leaders and top management of non-profit hospitals. In May 2006, TGI was sold to National Research Corporation.
In October 2014, Housatonic Partners invested with management in the acquisition of HFRI, LLC. HFRI provides revenue cycle management solutions to hospitals throughout the U.S. Following the acquisitions of PARA and StatRev in 2019 and 2021, respectively, the Company was rebranded to ParaRev. In May of 2022, ParaRev was sold to CorroHealth, a strategic acquiror.
In September 2011, Housatonic invested in HealthWyse, a leading provider of clinical and financial software solutions for home care, hospice and private duty agencies. Delivered through a hosted data center with end-to-end managed services, the company‘s fully integrated services and software offerings include a Point of Care, Clinical Management and Billing solution customized to meet the needs of various agencies. HealthWyse was merged with Casamba and TherapySource in 2016.
In February 2010, Housatonic invested in HemaSource, the leading provider of medical consumables to the plasma and whole blood collection industries. Through its proprietary online ordering and inventory management platform, HemaSource reduces costs and maximizes efficiency for its customers. In July 2014, Hemasource was sold to a financial buyer.
In June 2006, Housatonic made an investment in Ilios Partners, a leading provider of capital markets intelligence services, which includes the monitoring of institutional trading activity in the stock or debt of publicly traded companies, and related investor relations services including investor profiling and targeting. Illios was sold to MZGroup in February 2011.
In 2023, in partnership with CEO Jeff Russell, Housatonic launched Keeping Count to build an industry-leading, vertically-focused provider of monthly accounting services for small businesses. Keeping Count provides a full suite of monthly bookkeeping, accounting, tax strategy, and financial advisory services.
In August 2022, Housatonic Partners announced a strategic growth investment in Key Media. Founded in 2001, Key Media is a global leader in B2B media, with over 300 staff in six countries, including Australia, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and the Philippines. The Company delivers world-class content via its multiple platforms to professionals in the insurance, law, human resources, wealth management, and real estate industries, among others.
In January 2008, LDI, formed by Housatonic, acquired and consolidated two businesses formerly owned by the California Medical Association, each with decades of history serving healthcare clinicians and scientific researchers: Audio-Digest Foundation and Marathon Multimedia. The combined company, through a leading data information management service, makes essential clinical and scientific information accessible to healthcare professionals by providing high-quality, convenient, and affordable continuing professional education to meet the growing requirements to learn and improve patient care within medical and scientific communities. LDI was sold to Wolters Kluwer in 2015.
LeMaitre Vascular, Inc. is a leading global provider of innovative devices for the treatment of peripheral vascular disease. The company develops, manufactures, and markets disposable and implantable vascular devices to address the needs of vascular surgeons and interventionalists. LeMaitre completed its initial public offering in October 2006 (NASDAQ: LMAT).
In November 2007, Housatonic acquired a majority interest in Liberty Towers, LLC. Liberty was formed by a management team with deep industry experience to develop, build and lease new communications towers throughout the eastern U.S. Liberty Towers was sold to Vertical Bridge in 2015.
Through two separate vehicles, Housatonic has partnered with Lincoln Peak Capital in making minority investments in four asset management firms. Founded in 2008 by Seth W. Brennan and Anthony H. Leness, Lincoln Peak is a Boston-based private investment firm that is focused exclusively on investing in category-leading asset management firms.
In November 2013, Housatonic made an investment in LeadQual LLC, an internet marketing services provider offering digital agency, lead generation, qualification and transfer services to clients across a number of industries. By improving the quality of online traffic, screening and transferring live leads to sales reps, the company helps customers generate higher ROI from their digital marketing initiatives.
In November 1998, Housatonic made an investment in Chicago-based Marathon Media, LP. The company acquired and operated radio stations in rural markets in the upper Midwest and Mountain states. The company exited the stations by 2010.
In October 2020, Housatonic invested in MaxiTransfers, LLC. Based in Irving, Texas, MaxiTransfers is a leading money service business that has been serving the Latin American community in the U.S. since the early 2000’s. The Company operates through over 2,000 active agents in the U.S. and over 40,000 payers in Latin America.
In January 2002, Housatonic made an investment in Braden Partners, LP, dba Med-Mart. The company is a leading provider of oxygen and other respiratory therapy services to patients in the home. In June 2008, Med-Mart was sold to a large Japanese healthcare company, Teijin Pharma Ltd.
In February 2006, Housatonic invested in a management buyout of MedOptions, the largest provider of behavioral health and primary medical care services to skilled nursing and assisted living facility residents in Connecticut and Rhode Island. MedOptions delivers improved patient outcomes and quality of life while improving facility operating performance, including reduced hospital readmissions and ER visits, improved staff/physician/family satisfaction, reduced drug expenses and increased reimbursement. MedOptions was sold to financial buyers in 2015.
In December 2021, Housatonic made a strategic growth investment in Mobile Vascular Physicians (“MVP”). Founded in 2018, MVP is a New York-based concierge medical practice that utilizes a specialized, mobile approach to provide vascular and interventional services to residents of long-term care facilities.
Offsite Archive Storage and Integrated Services Holdings Limited (OASIS) is a growing UK/Ireland-based records and information management company with offices servicing the Dublin, Belfast and London area markets. The company serves customers in the financial, legal, healthcare, and government sectors, with offerings that include hard copy, digital and vault storage with ancillary services and information destruction services. Housatonic Partners and Sverica International acquired the company in May 2009, with plans to build the company through a strategy of add-on acquisitions combined with organic growth. Since then, OASIS has completed 29 add-on acquisitions in its existing markets. OASIS was sold to a financial buyer in 2017.
In February 2009, Housatonic provided ONRAD with a growth equity investment. Based in Riverside, California, ONRAD is a leading teleradiology company, offering remote read capabilities to hospitals, radiology groups, and imaging centers. With all of its doctors on US soil, ONRAD focuses on delivering outsourced “final” interpretations, a rapidly growing area within teleradiology.
In September 2009, Housatonic participated in the acquisition of OnRamp Access, LLC. Founded in 1994 and based in Austin, Texas, OnRamp is a leading provider of data center co-location services, managed servers, and virtual private clouds for small to medium businesses as well as larger customers. OnRamp was sold to LightEdge in 2018.
In January, 2000, Housatonic invested in Onsite Health, a national provider of healthcare services specializing in Mobile Dental and Healthcare Practices & Portable Dental and Healthcare Equipment for corporate, military, government, and community foundation clients.
Phase Forward is a leading provider of integrated data collection and data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety. The Company’s technology and global services are designed to enable life sciences companies of all types and sizes to automate and integrate the management of their entire clinical development process – from study initiation and FDA submission through post-marketing studies. Phase Forward’s products and services have been used in over 10,000 clinical trials involving more than 1,000,000 trial study participants in 112 companies at over 290 life sciences companies, medical device firms, regulatory agencies worldwide.
In February 2002, Housatonic made an investment in Denver-based Precis Communications. The company is focused on acquiring cable television systems in small towns and rural communities. The company had over 10,000 subscribers in southern and central Utah at the time of exit. Precis Communications was sold to Emery Telcom in 2009.
In December 2007, Housatonic Partners invested with management in ProService, a rapidly growing professional employer organization and the largest provider of outsourced human resources services in the state of Hawaii. In November 2017, ProService was acquired by a financial buyer.
In October 2001, Housatonic acquired Pyramid Research from The Economist. Founded in 1986, Pyramid Research provides international market analysis and consulting services to the global communications industry. The company was sold to United Business Media, LLC in September 2008.
In December 2011, Housatonic acquired a majority interest in QMC Telecom International Holdings, LLC. QMC was formed to develop, build, and acquire cell towers in Latin America with an initial focus in Brazil and Mexico.
Rapid was formed in 2002 by management and Housatonic, along with Alta Communications and Columbia Capital. Rapid has since acquired, and is upgrading and operating, cable systems in small to mid-sized markets throughout the U.S. Housatonic Partners had previously sponsored this management team in a prior company beginning in 1995; this earlier company, Rapid Communications Partners, L.P., acquired three groups of rural cable systems in the Midwest, and was sold in 1999 and 2000.
In December 2012, Housatonic led the formation of Registria LLC through the acquisition and consolidation of two providers of data-driven marketing and e-commerce solutions across a single Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform. The combined entity provides registration, life-cycle marketing, e-commerce, and service solutions through multiple online and offline channels. These offerings allow consumer products manufacturers to engage with customers and deliver a richer experience that grows revenue and brand preference.
In June 2008, Housatonic Partners purchased an ownership stake in ResponseLink. The company is one of the leading providers of personal emergency response services to seniors and the handicapped living at home. ResponseLink utilizes a proprietary remote communications device which is monitored continuously.
In September 2018, Housatonic participated in the acquisition of School Family Media, LLC. Founded in 1999 and based in Wrentham, MA, School Family Media is the leading data and marketing service provider of school supply lists to retailers and consumer product manufacturers. The Company also serves Parent Teacher Organizations, PTAs and school communities with creative content and service solutions to help parents and families engage effectively with their local schools.
In January 2003, Housatonic invested in ServiceSource, the leading outsourced sales solution focused exclusively on maintenance and support services. ServiceSource drives untapped revenue on behalf of its North American and European customers by increasing renewal rates, upselling into higher support offerings and cross-selling additional product opportunities. ServiceSource completed its initial public offering in March 2011 (NASDAW: SREV).
In September 2004, Housatonic invested in Shootingstar Broadcasting of New England, a television broadcasting company led by Diane Sutter. The company operates WNDS-TV, the only full-power independent television station in the Boston market. Shooting Star was sold to a financial buyer in February 2011.
In December 2015, Housatonic invested in Sprout Health, a provider of behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services with facilities across the United States. Sprout offers clients a full continuum of behavioral healthcare, including detox, residential treatment, and multiple levels of outpatient treatment, aftercare, and ongoing monitoring programs.
In August 1999, Housatonic participated in a recapitalization of TELAV, Inc. TELAV is a Canadian company which provides audio, visual and staging support to more than 40,000 events per year throughout North America. In June of 2001, TELAV merged with AVW Audio Visual of Dallas, Texas to form AVW-TELAV Audio Visual Solutions. In August 2003, TELAV was sold to Freeman Communications.
In March 2018, Housatonic invested in Eureka Entertainment (dba Universal Gaming Group). Eureka is a leading player in the Illinois VGT market, providing licensed Terminal Operator services to nearly 200 sites across the state.
In September 2021, Housatonic Partners announced a strategic growth investment in Veridic Solutions (“Veridic”), a leading cloud and digital transformation services company. Veridic manages and deploys a team of highly trained software engineers that provide planning, migration, DevOps, and managed services.
In December 1999, Housatonic Partners invested in QMC Media, Inc., dba VIU Media, based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The company grew to become Puerto Rico’s largest provider of bulletin-sized billboards. In February 2006, the company was sold to Lamar Advertising Company (NASDAQ: LAMR).
In June 2005, Housatonic and management formed Vox Communications to acquire, build and operate clusters of radio stations in small-to-medium sized markets in the Eastern United States. Vox is currently operating radio station clusters in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Florida. The company was reorganized in July 2010.
In November 2011, Housatonic Partners invested in West Coast Clinical Trials, LLC (WCCT), a contract research organization supporting early phase biopharmaceutical development. WCCT specializes in complex Phase I-IIa special population studies, which assess a drug’s efficacy and dosage requirements within a particular subset of a larger population.
In May 2005, Housatonic and management formed South Florida Media Group to acquire and operate community media properties. In June 2009, South Florida Media Group became a wholly-owned subsidiary of WSF Holding Group and simultaneously formed SFM Acquisition and acquired Welcome Wagon International, the world’s largest welcoming service to the new homeowner. In June 2010, the assets of South Florida Media Group were sold to three independent buyers allowing management to focus exclusively on the Welcome Wagon brand. The company was sold to Money Mailer in May 2014.
In November 1999, Housatonic made an investment in Wind River Environmental, LLC. Based in Hudson, MA, Wind River is the leading provider of non-hazardous liquid waste disposal services in the northeastern U.S. In July 2014, Wind River was sold to a financial buyer.
In December 2020, Housatonic invested in Working Solutions, a recognized leader in onshore, on-demand contact center solutions. Its remote workforce includes sales, customer care, and technical experts – with more than 150,000 registered agents in the United States and Canada. They deliver fast-flex business process outsourcing services for clients and their customer across diverse industries, such as consumer services, healthcare, retail, travel, and hospitality.
In October 2016, Housatonic acquired the legacy Australian operations of Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM), an enterprise information management services company. Now doing business as ZircoDATA, the company provides a comprehensive range of records storage, scanning, data capture and document management solutions. ZircoDATA serves over 1,500 clients from 18 facilities located across Australia.
